CNG Prices May Be Raised To Rs. 133 Per Kg

Government of Pakistan has decided to increase the CNG prices by 80% to reduce its cost difference with petrol, this was reported by leading English newspaper of Pakistan. This means that CNG prices will be Rs. 133 per kilogram.

This increase in CNG price was to be implemented from 1st July however now Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed to the authorities concerned not to increase the gas tariff as it can further raise the inflation in Ramadan. Holy month of Ramadan will start from 9th or 10th July in Pakistan.
This decision will hit the CNG car users very badly as at present CNG prices for Region-I (Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Baluchistan, Potohar region; Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Gujar Khan) is Rs. 74.44 per kilogram and for Region-II ((Sindh and Punjab excluding Potohar region) CNG price per KG is Rs. 65.78.
All the relevant ministries and Prime Minister have supported to increase the CNG price and present this move to Council of Common Interests (CCI) for approval which will now happen after Ramadan.
